A New, More Accessible Layout for Our Fall Native Plant Sale
Share
If you’ve shopped one of our native plant sales at Dogwood Canyon before, things are going to look a little different this fall.
We’re moving the plant sale to a new location at the center—just a short distance from where we’ve traditionally staged the plants, but onto a larger, flatter paved area.
Why the change? We want to make the plant sale easier for more people to shop.

Our new plant sale area is taking shape! Moving onto the paved circle gives us more room to create an easier-to-navigate shopping area.
Making More Room—and Improving Accessibility
Our previous plant sale area worked well in many ways, but it also presented some challenges. Space was limited, and the terrain made it difficult to create a shopping layout that was as accessible as we would like.
This fall, plants will be staged on a portion of the paved circle drive in front of the center. The new location gives us more room to organize plants while providing a flatter, more accessible surface for customers using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, or anyone who finds uneven terrain difficult to navigate.
It also gives us more flexibility to create wider pathways between plants and a more comfortable shopping experience overall.

Fall 2026 Plant Sale Parking & Pickup Map: During pickup-only hours, the ranch gate will be open and customers picking up online orders may use the designated pickup parking area. During open shopping events, the ranch gate will be closed to vehicles and all visitors—including customers picking up online orders—should use the main parking area.
Picking Up an Online Order During Pickup-Only Hours
If you’re visiting during a scheduled pickup window when the plant sale is not open for in-person shopping, the ranch gate will be open.
Proceed through the ranch gate and park in the designated pickup area on the left side of the circle garden, near the dumpster. Your order will already be pulled and waiting for you.
If a staff member or volunteer is not already outside assisting customers, please call (469) 526-1980 to let us know you’ve arrived. Please wait for someone to release your order before removing plants.
And a quick reminder: please arrive during your scheduled pickup window. We choose pickup times based on when our small staff is available to assist customers. If you arrive outside your scheduled time, someone may not be immediately available and your pickup may be delayed.
Visiting During an Open Shopping Event
When the plant sale is open for in-person shopping, the traffic pattern changes.
The ranch gate will be closed to vehicles, and visitors should park in the main parking area and walk through the gate to the plant sale.
This applies to everyone visiting during open shopping hours, including customers who have scheduled an online order pickup. If you’re picking up an order during one of these events, park in the main parking area and check in with a staff member or volunteer when you arrive.
Closing the plant sale area to vehicle traffic allows us to use the paved portion of the circle as dedicated shopping space, creating a safer and more accessible environment for everyone.
How In-Person Shopping Works
You’re welcome to bring your own garden cart, wagon, or other small cart to use while shopping. But you don’t need one—and you don’t need to carry all of your plants around the sale with you.
As you shop, choose a spot around the circle garden to gather the plants you’d like to purchase. You can continue browsing and add plants to your group as you go.
When you’re ready to check out, just let us know at the checkout table. We’ll come to your plants, so there’s no need to carry your entire selection to the register.
After checkout, you can load your purchases into your own cart or wagon, or one of our volunteers can load your plants onto one of our carts and help you get them to your vehicle.
This system gives you the freedom to browse at your own pace without having to carry plants throughout the sale.
Want Help Choosing Plants?
Our primary in-person shopping day is the Native Plant Sale on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Staff and volunteers will be available that day to help shoppers with plant selections and loading purchases.
Additional in-person shopping opportunities will be offered later in the fall, but plant-selection assistance may be limited. For personalized help choosing plants for your garden, October 17 is the day to visit.
Help Us Test Our New Setup
This is our first season using this location, and we expect to learn a few things along the way.
The move is part of our ongoing effort to make the Dogwood Canyon Native Plant Sale work better for customers, volunteers, and staff—and, importantly, to make the sale more accessible to people who may have found our previous setup difficult to navigate.
The new layout, flexible shopping process, and volunteer assistance with transporting purchases are all intended to make it easier for more people to participate.
If you encounter an accessibility issue or see something we could improve, please let us know. Feedback from the people actually using the space will help us continue refining the layout for future sales.
We’re excited to try the new setup, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to a roomier, flatter, and more accessible Native Plant Sale this fall.
